Phillip Walker

With more than 25 years of experience to his name - Phil is in strong demand for specialist taxation advice from his client list of chartered accountants and corporates.

Phil deals with all areas of taxation, with specific areas of interest in property issues, GST matters and re-structuring.  Phil also provides advice on objective-appropriate trading structures, including the use of trusts.

On the professional development side, Phil has presented many seminars and webinars, including presentations to members of the New Zealand Institute of Accountants, NZ Law, Institute of International Research and university students.

Phil B

Philip Bell

Phil has over two decades of tax and accounting experience.

He started his career with the Inland Revenue Department in 1986, followed by a 2½ year stint in Taupo with a medium-size chartered accounting firm.

In 1994 Phil moved to Auckland to take up a position with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in their corporate tax team. Phil progressed to Tax Manager at the firm before moving to nsaTax in February 2000.

Phil was appointed a Director of nsaTax in January 2001.

His education encompasses a Bachelor of Business Studies at Massey University in Palmerston North and he also has a Masters of Taxation Studies with First Class Honours from Auckland University.

His particular areas of interest include:

  • Trusts and tax planning and structuring
  • Land transactions
  • International taxation with a focus on trans-Tasman structures
  • Expatriate taxation, and the taxation of financial arrangements/accrual rules

Bruce

Bruce Watt

Bruce brings more than a two decades of wide-ranging chartered accounting expertise to his to role as at nsaTax.

He began his career at Barr, Burgess and Stewart (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). In January 2000, Bruce was appointed a Director of nsaTax.

His broad base of experience is reflected in the breadth of work he has covered, providing advice to small and medium-sized businesses in taxation, finance, management, as well as general accounting.

Balancing that is Bruce's particular area of specialisation in valuation and litigation support services.

Bruce sees his role as moving beyond helping clients ensure they meet their statutory compliance obligations to delivering timely and proactive advice, which in turn enables more informed governance, strategising and decision-making

Bruce is married with two sons.

Graeme

Graeme Carruthers

Graeme has been with nsaTax since 1999 and was appointed a Director of the firm in April 2007.  Prior to joining nsaTax he was a team leader in the investigations area with Inland Revenue.

Graeme deals with all areas of taxation including the taxation of offshore investments, domestic and cross border structures, tax residency, land transactions and complex GST issues.

A member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, Graeme has more than 20 years of taxation experience.

Graeme's outside interests are centered on his family and he is an avid sports follower and music fan.

Lisa

Lisa Murphy

Building on almost two decades of professional practice, Lisa has a vast amount of experience in managing IRD investigations, year-end tax computations and a solid grounding in corporate tax issues facing companies both domestically and internationally.

Lisa has a Bachelor Degree in Business Studies and a Masters of Taxation with first class honours and she is also a member of the NZICA CA College.

Lisa's career commenced at the IRD where she spent the majority of her time as an IRD investigator.  From there she spent 4 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers and progressed from Senior Tax Consultant to Tax Manager working on and managing a number of high profile corporate.  In 2003, she joined nsaTax where she continues to grow her highly regarded reputation.

Lisa, along with her husband and son, enjoy living by the beach, enjoys all manner of outdoor activities.  Lisa is also treasurer of her local touch rugby club.
